Bookish weekend

May 13, 2012September 14, 2014 Tina Lavelle3 Comments

The bookcases finally where installed on Friday. The guys from Maytain Cabinets did an absolutely brilliant job. The bookcase itself is gorgeous and they left everything clean and tidy - they even bought in my rubbish bin!We quickly put our books up on Saturday, though I envisage a bit of rearranging in the future.I still… Continue reading Bookish weekend

Tropical lighting

May 7, 2012September 14, 2014 Tina Lavelle

I picked up my new lamps from A-M at Cape Cod Designs last week. I've been waiting for these for awhile as I'd missed out on the first shipment and then had to wait weeks and weeks for the next. But they were well worth the wait. I love those pineapples! I'm not 100% sure… Continue reading Tropical lighting

Making progress

April 29, 2012September 14, 2014 Tina Lavelle3 Comments

I managed to get a few bits and pieces done this weekend. Cleaned out the shed, got out the winter clothes and hung up a painting that'd been lying around on the floor since we moved in last September. While sorting out the clothes I put aside some clothes the boys had grown out of to… Continue reading Making progress

One of the rooms in my "dream house" is a library. I would love to have a room full of books and a couple of cosy armchairs by the window.I don't think I'd ever leave that window seat.Walls of book, walls of art, comfy sofa - it doesn't get any better than thisI usually like… Continue reading Libraries

Boys beds

April 13, 2012September 14, 2014 Tina Lavelle3 Comments

I've started giving some thought to new beds for the boys. Eoin is really overdue an upgrade from his toddler bed as he barely fits in. But as usual while there are many lovely styles for girls the selection is a bit more limited for boys. I was thinking of getting something in white like… Continue reading Boys beds

The seasons especially spring and autumn.Photos by Ben Pentreath The thrill of the first daffodils after a… Continue reading Missing the northern spring

Happenings and catchup

March 31, 2012September 14, 2014 Tina Lavelle

I got distracted by life - sorry. So this is going to be a quick catchup of what's been happening.Had a weekend at Coolum a couple of weeks ago and it poured the whole weekend. Total washout. Just to make it worse we had gone camping with friends. Thankfully we'd stayed in a cabin but… Continue reading Happenings and catchup

Fabrics

March 23, 2012September 14, 2014 Tina Lavelle2 Comments

There is a whole world of fabric out there.  Last week I went fabric shopping with Tracey from Porchlight Interiors and got to visit all the secret designer fabric hangouts.  It's all pretty arcane with modest exteriors leading to an Aladdin's cave of treasures, their own language (colour ways, colour story) and they all seem… Continue reading Fabrics

Paper Art

March 21, 2012September 14, 2014 Tina Lavelle

Another addition to our small art collection. Today I received two PaperCut artworks that I'd ordered from Hardwick and Cesko. The detail is just amazing. PaperCutting is an ancient Chinese folk art thousands of years old. They are individually hand drawn and cut. Now to find them a home and get them up off the floor!Txxx
