The Writing Project

I can’t remember when the idea came to us originally but slowly the plan has developed to write a book about Zakynthos.

Despite its popularity amongst European tourists (over 500,000 visitors in 2013)  it is exceedingly hard to find any books about the island except for a few guide books.  What are all these people supposed to read while sunbathing?  Surely they are all dying to read an account of an Irish/Greek/Australian family’s experiences on the island?  What about if we throw in a little bit of culture, history, language and some encounters with the locals?

We still have a lot of thinking to do about this book.  We’re still at the research phase, reading any travel books on Greece that we can and seeing what works stylistically.  It’s a intimidating challenge but one that we are looking forward to.
